About what? The artist? The comic? The blog?
How about all of the above? Well, then, let’s start, shall we?
The Artist
I be Ren. I’m a graphic artist who also does other work to make the bills and whatnot. I could tell you what, but it’s fairly public, so I’d rather not. I’ve got a wonderful husband, and we share the house with my uncle and a friend, as well as bunch of hairy creatures that aren’t human. We live in Illinois, in our own house. I’ve got a BFA in visual communication, but you don’t really need that to make a comic. You’ll get a feeling for my personailty through the blog… So.. moving on…
The Comic
Marshamallow Surprise! came about as some doodles in a sketch book. That first mallow? Yeah, he was the first doodle. The series has yet to evolve any regular characters aside from the pink bunny. Or even a storyline. Maybe it will never have either, but that’s ok. You know what’s really funny? I draw the damn thing, and I don’t get why it’s funny. I do a doodle, finish a comic and each time I think, “wow. This is dumb/goofy. Why is it making me giggle?”
If you don’t find them funny, show them to your kids. Seems like the younger crowd gets the biggest kick out of them – because of that, I try to respect my apparent audience and not create anything too terribly inappropriate.
The Blog
Various things that go through my head, mostly. Hopefully, I’ll have a bunch of crazy stories for you. During my freelance career, I’ve driven a number of miles to get to client sites. Sometimes those drives alone produce some great stories. And sometimes stories are found right inside my own home. It’s all a matter of perspective, I believe.
I sincerely hope you enjoy both my crazy stories and my goofy comics. They’re not funny, the comics. I’m sure of it. Maybe that’s why they make me laugh, I dunno.
